Black Earth Elementary is dedicated to the early learners of the Wisconsin Heights School district, housing pre-k to grade 2 students. We provide a half-day four-year-old kindergarten program, full-day kindergarten, as well as all 1st and 2nd-grade students enrolled in the district. Pre-school students with special needs are also serviced through our Early Childhood program.
The school is nestled in the town of Black Earth where the fire department, police office, library and post office are all within walking distance from the school. This caring school community focuses on the total child and total development. A strong parent organization actively supports the school programs as well.
Students experience comprehensive programs in the arts, technology, and physical education in addition to the Wisconsin Heights curricular expectations at each grade level. Wisconsin Heights elementary class schedule is built around “Literacy Blocks” and “Math Blocks” to ensure that all homerooms have large, uninterrupted blocks of time each day to focus on student learning in the areas of literacy and math. The school library is open throughout the day, and thousands of books are available for research and enjoyment.
Small class sizes are another characteristic of Black Earth School. We also have an active and supportive parent organization. Our parent volunteers further reduce the adult to student ratio and can be seen on a daily basis working in the classrooms. Students have met or exceeded the No Child Left Behind requirements at the state and national levels under the tutelage of highly qualified teachers. Eligible students receive tutorial support in reading and a range of special education services.
We have a dedicated staff that works closely with our parents to produce responsible and respectful students who love to learn. We are proud of our students and our school.
