Amye Johnson: 6th Grade Math/ Science

Mrs. Johnson

Introduction

Hello! My name is Mrs. Johnson.  Currently, I am the 6th grade Math and Science teacher at Wisconsin Heights Middle School.

I graduated from St. Norbert College in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary/ Middle Education and minors in Language Arts and Adaptive Education.  I received my Reading Teacher license from Carroll University.  I also have my Master’s Degree in Education with a focus in Literacy through Concordia University.  While I completed my Master’s Degree I also completed my licensure for Reading Specialist and Alternative Education.

I live in Mazomanie, WI with my husband, Joe and our son, Joshua, and two daughters, Abby and Charlie.

My Classroom

My classroom is an inviting place for students to learn, collaborate, and explore learning. We use a lot of hands-on experiments in Science for students to gain a better understanding of the materials.

Students are able to collaborate with one another to understand different perspectives and provide insight into the lesson/ topic.

Teaching Style

My teaching style reflects my personality. I like things organized and structured within the classroom. We have a set of classroom rules/expectations that we follow. We have a routine to the class period, especially math: Mental Math, Bellringer, Lesson, Work Time

I want students to gain information from me as their teacher, but more importantly I want students to access learning from their peers. I allow students to work with classmates during all of my classes to engage in continuous discussion and exploration of the content.
