Introduction

Hello, my name is Andy Cole, and I have taught English in the district since 1993. I grew up in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin (along with my wife), and I was heavily involved in forensics, drama and show choir while in high school. I currently teach English 9, American Literature and AP Language and Composition. When I'm not teaching English, I enjoy reading, hunting, antiquing, gardening, following the Brewers, and spending time with my wife and daughter. I'm also a huge history buff (it was my minor in college), and I love doing genealogical research. For the last 20 summers, I have been a guide at Taliesin in Spring Green, so I'm a huge Frank Lloyd Wright fan. Being a guide gives me the chance to teach in a different setting with a different type of "student." I guess that means that I teach even when I'm not teaching!

My classroom

There is a lot of reading and discussing that we do.

Teaching Style

We start each day with trivia as a way to build background knowledge for reading and to have a little fun. I also encourage my students to ask questions and to contribute to classroom discussion. Things usually go much better if you are an active participant rather than a passive one.
