Josie Geishirt - Interventionist

Josie Geishirt

Introduction

I have worked in the district since 2005 when my family and I moved to Mazomanie.  I worked as the district Reading Specialist for several years and now, I am one of the Elementary School Reading and Math Interventionist.   I also spent several years teaching special education prior to my time here at Heights. I utilize the Orton Gillingham approach to teaching phonics. Being able to work with students to help them improve their reading and math skills brings me great pleasure.  My hopes are that I can help my students be better equipped to be successful in the classroom and in life.

My Classroom

I work with small groups to build reading and math skills in my classroom which is full of games and activities to motivate and engage my students. Everyone has the ability to work at their own level and succeed.

Teaching Style

I try to make learning fun and engaging while still holding students accountable for high levels of learning. Difficult skills are explicitly taught and broken down into manageable steps.
