Craig Gerlach

Welcome From The District Administrator

It is an honor to serve the students, staff, parents, and community of the Wisconsin Heights School District as Interim Superintendent of Schools for the 2023-24 school year!  I am proud to state that I am beginning my 38th year in public education and am excited to lead this great school district with the same dedication and passion that I have offered my entire career.

Please take time to familiarize yourself with our website.   Should you be unable to find an answer to a question that you may have or not find what you are looking for, please do not hesitate to call one of our school offices or the district office.

The Wisconsin Heights School District is located 20 minutes west of Madison in the beautiful Driftless Area. Our district encompasses approximately 100 square miles in the Black Earth and Mazomanie areas.  The area provides multiple recreational activities with a history that is deep and dynamic. Wisconsin Heights is a school district of approximately 775 students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. In the fall of 2022, the One Campus vision came to fruition. An elementary wing was added to the middle/high school, enabling all students and staff to be at one location.

The Wisconsin Heights Community is proud of its children and schools. The district adheres to a strong set of academic standards and students participate in regular formative assessments as part of their classroom experience.

Students in our district continually achieve higher percentages on our Department of Public-School Report Card than the State average.  Besides strong academic areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies, the district offers foreign language, school-to-work opportunities, family and consumer education, technology, health, physical education, music, and art instruction. We are proud to offer students options to participate in one of our youth apprenticeships.

The district also provides a variety of extracurricular offerings that support our rigorous academic programming. Drama, service clubs, special interest clubs, and a full slate of athletic offerings are available to all students to help complement academic offerings and provide a rich and rewarding educational experience.

Thank you for your interest in the Wisconsin Heights School District and I encourage you to see for yourself why we are the school of choice.  I encourage you to become part of our educational community by visiting our schools, volunteering, and becoming involved in our youth activities.
