Thank you to the High School Child Development Class for planning some fun small group activities for Ms. Frannie's class on Tuesday. Ms. Frannie's class is lucky to have them visit 4K on Tuesday mornings every week and help during small group learning stations in the classroom. Yesterday, the 4Ker's took a walking field trip to see the HS classroom! They love seeing our big high school friends!

Congratulations to our first Vanguard Spotlight Award recipient, Jami Bednarcik! Ms. Bednarcik was presented with her certificate and gift card at the December 9, 2024, Board of Education meeting. Ms. Bednarcik was nominated by Adi K, a Junior, who stated that Ms. Bednarcik has made her feel like she belongs. Adi also said that Ms. Bednarcik genuinely cares for her students and the education that they are receiving. Today's #SeniorSpotlight is on #VanguardPride senior, Nola Frost! Plans after graduation? Attend a 4 year college majoring in Dentistry or another Health Science field. Activities during high school? Girls Swim, Soccer, Track and Field, and NHS. Dream job? Oral Surgeon Favorite memory? Playing sports and going to sporting events with my friends, and field trips. What are you most proud of? I am most proud of getting accepted into NHS and getting voted Captain in both Swimming and Soccer. Congratulations, Nola!

Are you ready for the season of giving? The MS Student Council is sponsoring a Giving Tree for Jane's Journey Home for Dogs, an organization that takes care of senior dogs. From December 9th to December 20th, there will be a giving tree in the main lobby of the MS. Students simply pick up an ornament from the tree, buy the item listed on the ornament, and put it under the tree before school. The "Wish List" is attached for ideas, too.💚 When a student donates a gift, they get a chance to choose a teacher to be "pied in the face" at the December assembly. The more donations, the more teachers will be "pied". Thank you for your support! #VanguardPride

Mrs. Schmitt's 7th-grade students put on their urban planner hats this week! Using a student-designed city layout from a previous lesson, they tackled a population growth challenge through roleplay. Students took on roles as urban planners, environmentalists, business owners, and residents, collaborating to find the best solutions for their town's needs. Each group crafted a proposal and presented their ideas, culminating in a town vote to decide the future of their community. This hands-on experience showcased creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. Way to go, future city planners! #VanguardPride

This weekend, WHHS Drama Club presents "An Absolutely True Story Told By A Bunch Of Lying Liars". Performance dates and times: -Friday, December 6th, 7pm -Saturday, December 7th, 2pm -Saturday, December 7th, 7pm -Sunday, December 7th, 2pm All performances will be held at the WHHS cafeteria/stage. Tickets for all performances: tinyurl.com/WHHS-Fall-2024-Play Tickets will also be available at the door. Synopsis: This year's winter play is called "An Absolutely True Story (as Told by a Bunch of Lying Liars)." Basically, someone - either a clumsy teen, one of those teens’ friends, or maybe the family dog - broke a priceless family heirloom (a vase) and everyone has a story about why it wasn't them. The stories become increasingly ridiculous until the truth, or more than one version of it (pretty much depending on what universe you are in), is eventually revealed. It's a comedy and it'll be a good time. We hope to see you there! #VanguardPride

The fourth graders spent the week before Thanksgiving disguising turkeys and writing step-by-step instructions explaining how they completed their drawings. They then had a classmate try to recreate their turkeys by reading and following their directions. We think they did a pretty good job with their directions! #VanguardPride
