#VanguardPride students were hard at work making their CO2 dragsters in 8th grade Tech Ed. They used band saws and sanders to make their original designs come to life!
Students will be racing them at the end of the unit . Cool!!!!

Another great life lesson happening in the #VanguardPride district! Personal finance students are learning how to balance a checkbook!
In this activity, they had to search for 12 different transactions hanging around the classroom, record them in their register, and then they had to get their register checked to make sure the balance was accurate.
Finance can be fun!

#VanguardPride 5th graders have been experimenting with value to create the illusion of form.
Pretty cool!

Last month some middle and high school students put on an event for kindergarten and 4K students that involved shopping for, making and putting on an event related to vegetable soup.
The older students led the smaller students in a vegetable scavenger hunt, and read a book called the Culinary Kid written by a local author. Each student got to practice stirring the soup and serving their partner bowls of soup.
It was nice to warm up on such a COLD COLD week in January.

A new class of juniors and seniors started #VanguardPride personal finance last week!
During the first unit, they recorded their spending for a week and evaluated whether their purchases were needs or wants. They designed a financial vision board to envision where they want to be in 5 and 10 years and what major purchases they would like to make in the future.

It's National School Counseling Week!
School counselors help students in more ways than you may know. This week we
celebrate them as a part of National School Counseling Week 2024.
Every student deserves a school counselor to help with academic achievement
strategies, managing emotions, and applying interpersonal skills, and planning
for postsecondary options. School counselors are #StandardsBased and
#StudentFocused.
We thank our amazing school counselors, Kerri Martinez Najera and Andy Palzkill for all they do each and every day for our students and #VanguardPride district!
