It's #FineArtsFriday!
#VanguardPride 4th Graders are manipulating paper to create sculptures in the round.

Mrs. Updike's class spent the morning celebrating Leap Day by rotating through stations based on all things leap year or leaping animals.
The class saw how far they could leap on the lily pads, practiced their fine motor skills by flipping toy frogs into different mosquito shaped buckets, colored in the animals that leap and found all the fours. They have also listen to stories about frogs this week and worked on making a frog name chain.

MS/HS students planned and grocery shopped for a fun day "at the beach" for elementary students today!
Students participated in a variety of activities such as "Beach Ball Catch," "Smoothies at the Beach," "Guess where the Seashell is," "Balance Beam Shells," as well as listening to a book sung to the tune of Farmer in the Dell called "I found it at the Beach." It was a blast!

The Vanguard Racing Team came to the February 26th Board of Education meeting and gave a short presentation. They brought in the racing car and HOW COOL! The students are learning so much during this process and are spending afterschool and weekend hours working on this. They plan to have it ready to race in May.
The car is being built based on donations received. That's incredible! A huge shoutout to ALL who have donated so far. Special thanks to Middleton-Cross Plains racing team for helping our students by sharing your experiences and to Plastic Ingenuity for cutting some of the materials needed for this build.
Interested in donating? Please reach out to Kris Hopper, Tech Ed Teacher, at khopper@wisheights.k12.wi.us

It's coffee time!
A few times each month, some elementary students run a coffee cart through the halls to help staff stay caffeinated.
The cart is becoming so popular that even staff members from the District Office are going over to get some!

7th grade math used the percent change formula to calculate how the price of grocery items has changed since 1970. They were most surprised by Kleenexes, which have increased in price over 1000%! WOW! What an interesting exercise!

What: 4K & 5K Pre-Registration
When: April 4th, 2024 from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Where: Wisconsin Heights Elementary
How to Sign-up: Click Here!
On April 4th, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, Wisconsin Heights Elementary will be pre-registering students for its 2024-2025 Preschool and Kindergarten classes. Pre-registration will be held in the Wisconsin Heights Elementary School. Please note, this pre-registration is only for Preschool and Kindergarten. Full online registration will be done at district registration which will be held in August.
Parents of children who will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2024, are invited to come and enroll their child in Preschool, while parents of children who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024, are invited to enroll their child in Kindergarten. Parents of students who are currently enrolled in the Wisconsin Heights Preschool program will be automatically enrolled in Kindergarten and do not need to attend pre-registration. Additionally, children do not need to attend.
Pre-registration is an important component in our district budget planning for the coming school year. We base our initial Preschool & Kindergarten staffing and class assignments on the number of pre-registered students.
Parents are asked to bring a few items to pre-registration.
Please provide verification of your child’s birth date in the form of their original birth certificate.
Proof of residency (utility bill, phone bill, lease, etc.) if you do not already have a child enrolled in the district.
At pre-registration, you will receive several forms to be completed immediately. Forms can be found on our website if you are unable to attend at https://www.wisheights.k12.wi.us/page/new-family-enrollment
Please extend this invitation to anyone you know who has recently moved into the Wisconsin Heights School District. Please note we are anticipating limited space and will not be accepting any open enrollment applications for students living outside district boundaries.
We look forward to seeing you at pre-registration! Please call Courtney in the Wisconsin Heights Elementary School office at 608-767-2251 with any questions.

7th grade math learned the simple interest formula. To practice using the formula, students wrote and solved their own story problems that required the use of the formula. They wrote story problems about saving and taking out loans for buying Takis, going skydiving, and going on vacations.
Mrs. Meinholz typed them up to display to the class, and the students played trashketball with the problems to review for their upcoming quiz!
