7th grade math did a holiday themed breakout box to break out of their unit on inequalities. The breakout box problems were written to the poem of Twas the Night Before Christmas, except there were problems such as mice had taken over the house and Santa's sleigh had broken down. The students had to use what they had learned about solving with less than, greater than, less than or equal to, and greater than or equal to, to help Santa deliver the gifts.
All of the #VanguardPride teams were successful and had a great time doing the activity to review for their upcoming test.

Mrs. Statz's 4th hour Intro to Culinary classes made gingerbread houses the week before break.
Here are some examples of the finished products. Nice work!

On Tuesday, December 19 at the boys basketball game, Athletic Director Kindra Zuberbuehler presented Bret Schultz with the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association Wisconsin Athletic Service Award.
In her speech, Ms. Zuberbuehler highlighted the following, "If someone were to ask ten people what Bret does you would get 10 different answers because he does one hundred different things because... they just need to get done. I personally could not survive without him and quite frankly our sports thrive in large part because of him. He is simply the rock of our indoor activities. Bret can find a random volleyball stanchion floor hole cover in a jiffy, locate a mysterious breaker panel, or drive in a lift to restart the hudl camera. All with a smile and a “we will make this work” attitude. He is simply irreplaceable and his acts of service and kindness are unmatched. So for all of that and so much more, I present the 2023 Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association Wisconsin Athletic Service Award to our one and only Bret Schultz. "
Congratulations Bret!

Mrs. Stadler and Mrs. Nimmow's #VanguardPride 4th grade classes celebrated meeting their November Gotcha Ticket Goal by having a Harry Potter Day. Students made wands, got sorted into Houses, and read about the Wizarding world. They also were brave enough to try Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans!

Students recently visited the Local 139 Operating Engineers Externship Day at the training facility in Coloma, WI. This was a fully interactive and hands-on field trip with students operating heavy machinery as well as having the opportunity to speak with industry leaders and instructors.
